Dr. Timothy Shimp has served the District 115 community as its superintendent of schools since 2013. Prior to this role, Dr. Shimp served in positions of associate superintendent and high school principal, both within District 115, as well as eight years in administration in Hinsdale District 86. Dr. Shimp began his career in Leyden District 212, working as a special education teacher, guidance counselor, and department chair.
Dr. Shimp earned his Bachelor of Science in education from Illinois State University and a Master of Science in educational leadership from Northern Illinois University. He earned his Ed.D. designation from Aurora University after defending his dissertation titled: A Ninth Grade Student Transition Model: A Study of Student Perceptions Related to Rigor, Relevancy and Relationships within a Ninth Grade Transitional Program.
In addition to working in Yorkville schools, Dr. Shimp and his family have been residents of the Yorkville community since 2003.
