Dr. Katie Spallasso became an administrator at Bristol Bay Elementary School in 2012, and its principal in 2016.

She began her educational career as an English teacher and high school coach. After seven years in the classroom, she moved into educational leadership as an assistant principal for curriculum and instruction in the Sycamore School District. In 2008, Dr. Spallasso was given the opportunity to help open up the Yorkville High School Academy while taking on the role of assistant principal at Yorkville High School. She spent four years at the high school before moving to Bristol Bay Elementary School.

In the spring of 2015, Dr. Spallasso defended her dissertation “How to Make the Grade:  An Examination of Upper Elementary School Organizational Structure and the Impact on Mathematics Achievement Growth” and graduated with her doctorate from Aurora University. She completed her graduate work in educational leadership at Northern Illinois University, and her undergraduate work in secondary education and English at Indiana University.

Dr. Spallasso and her husband Marco have three children: Johnny, Maggie, and Mikey.
