Jill Zapata started her career in East Aurora School District 131 teaching sheltered English and bilingual self-contained students in grades first through fourth before serving the district as an assistant principal. In 2016, Jill joined Yorkville Community Unit School District 115 as an assistant principal for bilingual and English Learner Services at Autumn Creek Elementary School. The following year, she became the District Coordinator for Bilingual and English Learner Services. Jill also works part-time at North Central College as an adjunct professor in the graduate program for English as a New Language.
Jill's passion is serving and advocating for bilingual, English learners, and at-risk students. She enjoys working with teachers and families to bring awareness to language learning and student engagement in order to close the opportunity gap for students.
Jill completed her bachelor's and master's degrees at North Central College. She majored in elementary education with an endorsement in reading and English as a New Language, and minored in Spanish. Her master's degree is in education with a principalship endorsement. Jill is bilingual and biliterate in Spanish.
