Nick Baughman has been serving the Yorkville Community Unit School District 115 as its educational leader since 2016-17. As the associate superintendent of learning and instruction, he is responsible for designing professional development, overseeing the implementation of district curriculum, evaluating academic programming, grant writing, and improving student achievement. He is also responsible for supervising and evaluating teachers and administrators, negotiating contracts, and overseeing the technology, human resources and English learner departments.
He began his educational career in Oswego Community Unit School District 308 as a fourth-grade teacher. In 2008, he entered educational administration as an assistant principal at Fearn Elementary School in West Aurora School District 129. He later served as principal at Greenman Elementary School and director of elementary teaching and learning, both in West Aurora School District 129. As director of elementary teaching and learning, Nick designed curriculum, planned professional development, evaluated staff, and wrote state and federal grants.
Nick earned a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 2004, a master’s degree from Concordia University in 2008, and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Aurora University in 2016.
Nick has been a Yorkville resident since 2010.
