Principal's Message

  • Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! I am beyond honored to serve Yorkville Intermediate School as Principal. The YIS community truly embodies a collaborative and supportive learning community who strives to develop a culture of kindness, leadership, and community for our students, families, and staff. Every child who enters our doors is welcome, valued, and cared for, and it is that belief in students that drives our collective commitment.

I have proudly served the Yorkville community since 2010. I began my career teaching at Bristol Bay Elementary School. I then served as a Teacher on Special Assignment, working collaboratively with teachers and administrators across our district. In that role, I focused on instructional coaching, curriculum development, and mentoring of new teachers.  I have served the YIS community since 2018 as Assistant Principal. As the next principal of YIS, I plan to continue our long tradition of care and support. Enhancing our positive community culture, leveraging family engagement, and accelerating student achievement are goals that will guide my service during the 2022-2023 school year. As a parent, I understand the lasting impact and influence we have as a school community on each of our students. I will strive each day to provide the same care and commitment I would want for my own children.

My kindergarten daughter, 1st grade son, and husband keep me busy, incredibly happy, and focused on what is most important in life. We are fortunate to live on our family’s centennial grain farm in DeKalb County. When at home, I spend lots of time enjoying quiet time in our yard, running meals to the fields, and even driving a tractor once in a while.  I am beyond blessed to find fulfillment not only in my work, but also my life at home.

I look forward to partnering with you so we can best meet the needs of your child. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

    Sincerely,

    Kimber Larson
    Principal
