My name is Emily Lech. I’m honored to be the principal of Yorkville Grade School. Previously, I was an assistant principal for four years in Park Ridge District 64. Before that, I taught for a decade in elementary schools in Washington D.C., Chicago, and Evanston.
As a parent of three young children, I understand the extraordinary trust you put into the school’s hands each day. Your child’s safety, social, emotional, and academic well-being are my utmost priorities. Our team is committed to keeping every child, every day, at the heart of it all. Ultimately, we are growing our young learners to become collaborative, kind, curious, resilient individuals that develop the skills necessary to excel in a world that is ever changing.
Yorkville Grade School has approximately 200 students kindergarten-third grade. We have a fabulous PTO and welcome you to become involved, volunteer, and join us for school events. We are here to connect regularly about the goals you have for your child. Always feel at ease to call, email, or set up a time to meet with me or your child's teacher. Our partnership is important and valuable. Follow learning adventures by liking "Yorkville Grade School" on Facebook. You can also find us on twitter: @y115ygs and @emily_lech.
I'm excited to share that an article I wrote about growing readers at YGS & in Y115 was published on Edutopia: an online magazine that empowers educators to improve K-12 education. Grateful for the ways our parents, school team, and district contribute to this shared value. You can read our simple yet important strategies HERE.
As your child grows in wondrous ways, this quote rings true, "Enjoy the little things in life. One day you'll look back and realize they were the big things."
