Yorkville CUSD 115 is pleased to welcome Shannon Hamm to the administrative staff as the new Circle Center Grade School principal. Hamm’s contract with the district will begin on July 1.
“Shannon Hamm’s professional concentration on serving the needs of early learners will make her a valued addition to our administration,” said District 115 Superintendent Dr. Timothy Shimp. “She has extensive experience in elementary education as both a teacher and administrator. Through these experiences she has developed a strong knowledge base in best practice instructional strategies and the most effective methods to lead and support others working with our youngest learners.”
The District 115 Board of Education approved the hire at its June 24 meeting. Hamm’s first official day at Circle Center Grade School will be on August 1. She will assume the principal position from Gina Isabelli who served as the Circle Center principal since 2015.
“I am thrilled and honored to have been chosen as the principal of Circle Center Grade School,” Hamm said. “My priority is to continue the great work that has already been accomplished at Circle Center by encouraging and supporting both students and teachers so we have a fulfilling and productive school year. I am especially looking forward to meeting and building relationships with the staff, students, and families in the District 115 community.”
During her educational career, Hamm has served as a teacher in grades 1-3, a co-principal at Saratoga CCSD 60C in Morris, and an assistant principal at Troy CCSD 30-C in Shorewood at a school that serves students in preschool through grade four. Her administrative experience includes grant writing and curriculum development for early childhood students.
Hamm holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education from Lewis University, a master’s degree in teaching and leadership from Saint Xavier University, and she is currently working towards her doctorate in educational leadership. Additionally, Hamm holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in administration, and she is a National Board Certified Teacher specializing in early education.
