Full-Time Dual Language Two-Way Immersion (Full-Time TBE Program) Program Description: The Dual Language Two-Way Immersion program develops native or heritage Spanish speaking students’ fluency and literacy in English and Spanish. Native or heritage Spanish-speaking students and native English-speaking students study in both languages together. Both groups of students develop literacy in both languages simultaneously. The program also helps students to succeed in academic subjects in which English is the language of instruction. The classes count toward graduation requirements.
Instructional Goals: To meet academic achievement standards for grade promotion and to become bilingual and biliterate. To demonstrate proficiency in English, students must score a 4.8 or above composite score on the annual ACCESS 2.0 for English Language Learners assessment. The school offers the Dual language Two-Way Immersion program to students in grades Kindergarten through eighth. Because the program develops literacy in both English and in Spanish, students remain in the program even though they have achieved fluency in English.
