Kathy Melton joined Yorkville Community Unit School District 115 in 2022 as the Assistant Superintendent of Learning and Instruction PK-6. In this role, Kathy will partner with early childhood and elementary professionals and oversee areas such as curriculum, instruction, assessment, and program evaluation in order to best serve the needs and interests of all students.

Most recently, Kathy served School District 45 as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Prior to that, Kathy was the principal of Community Unit School District 200's Lowell Elementary School for six years. Kathy began her school leadership journey in 2006 in Community Unit School District 308 as a junior high school assistant principal, elementary school assistant principal, and principal of the East View Kindergarten Center. As a classroom teacher, Kathy taught middle school language arts and social studies and coached soccer. She has continued to teach as an adjunct instructor in principal preparation and educational technology graduate programs.

Kathy earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of St. Francis (‘98). She earned her master’s degree (‘03), educational specialist degree (‘12), and Doctorate in Educational Leadership (‘15) degrees all from Northern Illinois University. Her doctoral research focus was principal self-efficacy and technology behaviors.
