There are many ways for businesses to develop a closer connection to the district and its schools.
College & Career Days
College & Career Days are held at both Yorkville High School and Yorkville Middle School during the school year. Please consider sharing your passion & enthusiasm for your career with District 115 students. The high school fairs are typically held in October and April, and the eighth-grade fair in February. YHS Field Experience Program
Business owners who are interested in hosting interns from Yorkville High School as part of the district's Field Experience Program are encouraged to contact YHS' Field Experience Coordinator to further discuss the opportunity. Contact: Melissa Wojowski at email@example.com or 630-553-4380
Student-Friendly Business Designation
With the expansion of District 115’s one Chromebook per student initiative and high school courses that allow students to do independent learning in the community, area businesses are needed to provide a safe, student-friendly, wifi accessible area for District 115 students. Participating businesses receive a “Y-fi Student Friendly Businesses” window decal and are listed in a district brochure for student reference. This is a unique opportunity for the district to partner with area business in an effort that will benefit both parties: the businesses will benefit from greater visibility and the promotion of their inclusive reputation; and students will have increased educational benefits, as well as a feeling that they are a valued segment of the community. Business Advisory Council
In a continual effort to expand opportunities for direct stakeholder feedback, a Business Advisory Council (BAC) was established in 2018. The BAC allows the district to form an even stronger bond with the local business community.
Business representatives on the BAC keep the superintendent apprised of the current local business climate, what effect district decisions have on the business community, and the expectations for students entering the workforce. In addition, the BAC assists the district in determining if new programs/curriculum need to be developed to ensure District 115 students graduate from the district career ready. BAC members may also serve to provide additional resources to the district, helping to expand the field experience, career day, and student-friendly business programs, as well as offer students other opportunities for real-world business experiences.
