Circle Center Students are
with some Great Books
* With our new Information Literacy and Technology Curriculum, all of our Learners are improving their research and technology skills.
* Students come to the Library every 4 days on a rotating schedule...so some weeks they wil come on Monday and Friday. Students in upper grades can come to the library on an as-needed basis as well. Students are learning about responsibility by checking out their own books and returning them ontime.
What's going on in the Library this month: November
Kindergarten is doing an Author study on Kevin Henkes. They are making connections between some of his books and they will explore the Author's webpage to see what he is writing next, or if there are books that the CCGS Library doesn't have. Our friends have noticed that Kevin Henkes likes to draw mice!
1st Gradeis doing an Author study of Helen Lester. Lester teaches students all about conflicts that can happen every day and how to deal with them. If you have not read Hooway for Wodney Wat, you are in for a treat!
2nd Gradehas been learning the Library card catalog system called "Destiny". They can search using keywords in Title as well as for subjects. They have been very active in asking for keywords to be added to our gigantic word wall. They have been enjoying some "Miss Smith" books for pure enjoyment since they worked so hard on their CoGat tests!
3rd Grade have almost mastered the skill of narrowing and broadening a topic. We started off with Nic Bishop Frogs (ask your child how big the largest frog is...but not during meal time!) We narrowed that topic down to poison frogs and what assortment of colors they come. Then, as partners, they are taking the broad topic of animals and narrowing it down by listing as many animals as they can on an A-Z sheet. Unique animals include N - naked-mole rat and K- kinkajou. These are some smart cookies!
All grades will enjoy some Thanksgiving / Autumn book as we enjoy the beautiful fall colors surrounding our school community.
Encourage your students to read daily!
Stay posted for December!
